📞 How to Check EROU Ownership and Current Carrier for 1300 & 1800 Numbers

Last updated on Mar 10, 2026

Overview

In Australia, all 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers are regulated by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

The official numbering database allows anyone to check:

  • The current carrier providing the number

  • The EROU holder (End Rights of Use holder) — the business that owns the number rights

  • Allocation and transfer history

This information is available through the ACMA Numbering System.

Access the Number Register

To search for a number, open the ACMA number register:

This tool allows you to look up 1300, 1800 and other Australian service numbers.

Step 1 — Enter the Number

  1. Open the Search for any number page.

  2. Select Exact number.

  3. Enter the 1300 or 1800 number you want to check.

Example:

1300688588
  1. Click Search.

Step 2 — Review the Search Results

The results will show a table containing important information about the number.

Key fields include:

  • Service type: Type of number (e.g. Local rate – 1300, Freephone – 1800)

  • Allocatee: Carrier that originally received the number block

  • Current holder: The current carrier operating the number

  • Current EROU holder: The business that owns the number usage rights

  • Allocation date: Date the number was allocated

  • Latest transfer date: When the number last changed carrier

Understanding the Results

Current Holder (Carrier)

The Current Holder shows the carrier currently hosting the number.

Example:

Current holder: AAPT LIMITED

This means the number is currently active on the AAPT carrier network.

EROU Holder (End Rights of Use)

The Current EROU Holder shows the organisation that owns the number rights.

Example:

Current EROU holder: THINK PICKLE PTY LIMITED

This means the number rights belong to that business.

The EROU holder controls:

  • Who the number is assigned to

  • Whether the number can be transferred

  • Which carrier hosts the number

Why This Information Is Useful

Checking the numbering register helps when:

  • Porting a 1300 or 1800 number

  • Identifying the current carrier

  • Verifying number ownership

  • Troubleshooting porting rejections

  • Confirming EROU assignment

This information is commonly used by carriers, resellers and telecom administrators when managing inbound numbers.

Example Result

Example lookup for a number may show:

  • Service Type: Local ratePrefix1300

  • Current Holder: AAPT Limited

  • Current EROU Holder: Think Pickle Pty Limited

This confirms:

  • The number is hosted on AAPT

  • The EROU ownership belongs to Think Pickle
