It is important to us that every Pickle user has a seamless experience while using our VoIP. To ensure the optimal level of service that we expect to provide, we have established minimum requirements to follow when using the Pickle application.

Network Requirements

One of the most important improvements you can make in your network is by setting up a QoS on your router. What exactly is a QoS and what does it do? A QoS, (Quality of Service) allows you to prioritize voice traffic in your network when several users are using the internet for a variety of other activities (emails, videos, web browsing). When you have a router capable of setting QoS rules, you will see that the quality of your calls will significantly improve as the voice packets are able to transfer in a continuous stream.

Here are some guides in order to configure a QoS on these routers :

Here is a guide on how to configure a QoS on any other router not listed above.

It is also important to ensure that you have established enough bandwidth in your network to support the number of simultaneous calls your team is making. Pickle requires at least 64Kbps (upstream and downstream) for each concurrent call. In addition, Pickle requires an appropriate amount of bandwidth to be able to operate with your integrations, contacts, and any other software your team may be using while making calls. A rough estimate is around 1 Mbps per person.

Please feel free to run this test to estimate your network's current bandwidth capabilities.

As additional traffic on your network impacts audio quality, we also suggest opening ports in your router/firewall/antivirus software to the following:

  • TCP: 443, 4998, 24998

  • UDP: from 35000 to 65000

Please also make sure to allow the following URLs and IPs:

  • *.thinkpickle.com.au

  • *.cloudoip.com.au

  • *.twilio.com

⚠️ Please note that the * covers all subdomains.

Once you have an appropriate router, you can set up QoS rules from your router's interface using the media server IP addresses below. Make sure that you have set all the applicable addresses applied that correspond to your location.

Finally, when possible, we strongly recommend using a cable (ethernet) network connection rather than a Wi-Fi connection. This provides a consistent network connection and the best quality possible. We recommend using at least a Cat 5e Ethernet cable (ideally a Cat 6). If your computer doesn't have an Ethernet port, you can use one of the following adapters:

Although an Ethernet connection is strongly recommended, if you prefer to use Wi-Fi, make sure you're using a professional Wi-Fi connection (at least 802.11ac) as it offers more stability and is capable of handling more users connected at the same time.

⚠️ Please note that we do not recommend the use of a VPN or a proxy with Pickle as it is very likely to generate some latency and/or jitter during your calls which could result in potential voice delay.

If you are using a VPN, we advise you to either completely deactivate the VPN or do not use it while using Pickle.
