Internet issues usually fall into three categories:

  • Slow speeds

  • Intermittent dropouts

This guide helps you identify which one applies.

Step 1 — Identify the Scope

Confirm:

  • Does it affect all devices or just Wi-Fi devices?

  • Is Ethernet also affected?

If Ethernet works normally, the issue is likely Wi-Fi related.

Step 2 — Power Cycle

Restart:

  1. Modem/router

  2. Network switches (if present)

  3. Wi-Fi access points

Wait 2–3 minutes before testing again.

Step 3 — Run a Speed Test

Run a speed test on:

  • A wired Ethernet connection

  • During and outside peak hours
